The Design Process
But how does the Cartoon Logo Design Process work you may ask? Well let’s look at an example . . .

It all Begins with a Brief
In this example, the client, who we’ll call Billy, emailed us with a very clear, direct brief. They were opening up a new business, a sweet shop and needed a new logo, and wanted an illustrated cartoon mascot. They knew what they wanted, a full colour design of a cartoon monkey; dressed as a circus ringmaster, juggling items the store would sell. And all in a circle that had the store name written around it.
Whilst That’s a pretty specific brief, and the kind of brief we like, there are still a few things we needed to know before offering an exact quote and bginning sketching. Where/how was the logo to be used? Did they need one design or a variety of designs, for instance a plain black and white version of the logo or just a the mascot without the text? How large or small would the logo design be displayed? Was it just a design for the store frontage, or would it also be used on business cards? Or a website design? Or print advertising?
And then of course there are other questions about what they needed the mascot design to communicate to their customers, and not just what kind of business they were, but also what kind of brand they were wishing to build.
Research & initial Logo Sketches
So, after we had discussed the finer points with Billy, we began researching, sometimes we’ll present a mood board with images similar to what you’ve requested, but more often we’ll present a range of rough initial sketches, this part usually takes a day or two, after which you’ll receive something like what’s below.

And yes, they do look very rough, but that’s because they are a long way from finished, and we need the feedback from this stage to help us determine what will become the basic pose and style of the mascot. In this example we also needed to establish early how the typographic treatment for the logo would work, and what shape it would take. So once we’ve had a chance to get your feedback we’ll then move to . . .
A more detailed Logo Design Sketch
Below you can see the first cleaned up sketch illustrations for Billy, based on the feedback from the previous stage. Again we’ll discuss any changes you want made to the logo design, as it’s always preferable to get the details locked in early, and continue to refine the sketch, then once the pencil sketch has been approved we’re ready for the next stage . .
Inking and colouring, Where it comes to Life
With the pencil sketches approved, we’ll move on to inking and colouring. This is where the mascot design really starts to come to life. But a finished, polished and awesome cartoon logo design isn’t the end of the process, we still need to . . .

Deliver the Finished Logo Design
You may not know what an .Ai or .Eps file is, but your printers sure
do, and they’ll need the right file formats to print your logo.
But what about your businesses other communications? Or the business website?
We will also send the finished logo design in a variety of different sized
jpegs, gifs & pngs, and of course if you have any special file requirements,
let us know, and we can arrange it.
We’ll then send all of these to you by both Email and on a CD in
the mail (as some of these files can be quite large in size).
It’s that easy. Billy loved his new logo, and the mascot can now
be seen displayed across his store windows, so if you’re ever in
Canberra, stop past for a delicious hot chocolate.
And we can do the same for you, so if you need a custom cartoon logo design

More Cartoon Logo Designs
Whether you've got a budget, or ready to go all out, we can provide the design solutions you need. Below is a range of different Cartoon Logo Designs and Cartoon Mascots we've done for a range of customers
Cartoon Logo Design Example - Flippers Seaside Cafe
This
Cartoon Logo Design was created for a small Cafe / Bistro in Florida,
and was the beginning of a set of cartoon styled characters to be used
for merchandising purposes.
As such the image needed to be as flexible as possible, with the individual elements all finished in a vector format and able to be separated.
The flexible Cartoon Vector format meant it could be printed on anything, so if you find yourself in Florida stop by, and pick up an award winning tea-towel, mug or even a snow globe with one of these winning characters on it.
Or ask us to design a set of Cartoon Characters to help sell your business, just email us at heckmaker@optusnet.com.au
Cartoon Logo Design Example - White Hills Football Club
This
Cartoon Logo Design was created for a regional Football / Netball Team
that needed to give their look the winning edge.
Good sports teams need good sports team logos, so we went to work updating their team mascot, capturing the sense of family friendly fun and awarding strength they needed.
And what did they do with that award winning logo? Well, they may have gone on to win the 2011 Premiership, and it might have been our logo that got them there, and we could do the same for you, just email us at heckmaker@optusnet.com.au
Cartoon Logo Design Example - Dynamic Martial Arts
This
Cartoon Logo Design was created for a Child-Centered Martial Arts Dojo.
The client needed a range of characters to represent different age groups.
We collaborated with the client to build a set of unique cartoon characters
that were both Martial Arts champions, and represented the ideals of their
business, and also included an extra set of coloring-in sheets about each
character for the youngest members of the dojo to enjoy.
The logo was a hit and by getting the children excited and talking about the different characters, the client was able to bring in enough new customers to expand his business to include a second dojo.

Cartoon Logo Design Example - Crab Claw Island
This
Cartoon Logo Design was created for an Island Resort that wanted to capture
a fun, upbeat image. The client needed a variety of designs, not only
for use as their logo, but also to use throughout their giftshop, for
use on T-shirts, Postcards and other souveniers available through their
giftshop.
We worked closely with the client to provide a range of flexible images that captured the variety of activities available on the island and the light family appeal they were after.

Cartoon Logo Design Example - Fun Fancy Dress
This
Cartoon Logo Design was for a Costume Hire Company specialising in Superhero
themed costumes. A key part of the development of a unique logo design
is communication and collaboration with the client. Early sketches were
considered and refined as a part of our three-step revison process. The
final Cartoon Logo Design was custom made to resemble a classic Superhero
and communicate the three central ideas of fast, friendly and reliable.

The client loved the finished work and hired us again when they expanded their business to include Pimp costumes.

A Cartoon Logo Design creates instant recognition for
your business, corporation or sporting club.
